MICHELLE WHELDON

Royal Academy of Dance (London)

MY BIO

Michelle began dancing at the age of two and hasn't stopped since! After continuing her training in ballet, tap and modern dance at First Stage, her performance career began at Pontins as one of the famous & Bluecoats. After a season in Blackpool she began to tour with shows in the UK and abroad. One such show inspired a love of Irish dance and Michelle joined and performed with an Irish company near her current home.

As well as performance, Michelle has a passion for teaching and sharing her love of dance with others. She has worked extensively as a teacher in primary schools throughout the country, introducing many different cultural styles of dance into her repertoire through her workshops. She also co-founded her own production company, Well Done Productions, with the aim of taking quality entertainment to those who couldn't get to a theatre. As director, choreographer and producer, and together with her partner, they grew this into a national business.

Recently, whilst bringing up her two daughters, Michelle has completed a degree in Dance Education with the Royal Academy of Dance, graduating with First class honours, probably one of her proudest (and most difficult!) achievements to date. During this course she has developed a love for contemporary and community dance, and this will likely be a strong influence in her future projects in dance.
